This is the life!

Oh what a birthday it was. Little buddy woke up to our family tradition of birthday breakfast and kept the day rolling with fun and craziness. He downed his crepes like nobody's business (proud mama) and dug right into his presents.

After we recovered from our syrup coma, the three of us paid a visit to the Children's Museum. Oh my amazing. It was the first time for all of us and we were so sold that we bought year pass. The treehouse alone was amazing, not to mention the noodle room and the "car wash". It was Gunnar heaven and you better believe his nap was glorious that day. Thanks for joining our family buddy! You make everything awesome.

priceless.

two

Two little feet, ten little toes,
Leave their impressions today.
Soon they will wear two little shoes,
And be running and jumping at play.
Two little feet, too little time,
Before they are walking to school,
Kicking a rock, or skipping a rope,
Wading a puddle or jumping a pool.
Two little feet, One little child,
Will soon go their own way,
But footprints in my mind recall,
They stood here yesterday.

I have put off writing this post for too long. It seems that Gunnar is officially two and I must accept it. I refuse to believe that time has passed so quickly. To me he is still me sweet little 5 pound (more like 32 pound) newborn snuggly buddy. What a blessing it has been to have him in our family. I can hardly imagine what life was like before his love. There is no better feeling than when he looks up at me and I look back at him and he just can't control the smile that comes across his face. It makes my heart melt faster than anything. I feel just so lucky to have him. Happy Birthday buddy!

baby

Gunnar is starting to figure out what's happening to mommy's tummy and I am so grateful. Our next door neighbors and good friends just had a new baby on Christmas eve and now Gunnar is starting to figure out how this whole thing works. Thank goodness! I was nervous for a bit that one day we were gonna come home with a new baby out of the blue and he was going to go berserk. Whenever we get to play with baby Levi, G points to him and says "baby" and then points to my tummy and says "baby"... every once in a while he will lift up his shirt and point to his tummy and says "baby" too. It makes me smile. He is going to be an amazing brother.

The word is out

This little boy is going to be a big brother!

He is so excited and he doesn't even know it yet :)

I can't believe that this little girl will be here in 4 months! ...or 2 1/2 if history repeats itself but let's keep things positive shall we? Although running to the vomitory is still a frequent occurrence, we are down to only about 4-5 times a week and let's just say that is a huge improvement. There have definitely been a few times where Gunnar ran to the bathroom with me and laughed his belly out as I lost everything I had eaten that day. Hopefully those days are dwindling and will soon be at an end. It is so nice to feel almost normal these days and to be able to move around and keep up with baby boy. He has been such a good sport this whole time. Lucky for him (and me) his aunt Hannah came to play for 5 weeks and he forgot all about mom.

I will say that we are so excited to meet our new little lady! It's strange to think that I get to be a mom x2. I have to change "my son" to "my kids". My diaper bag will have to pull double duty. There will be two car seats in my car. Two of everything. I'm excited! ...and a little nervous :) One thing I know for sure is that G is going to be the best big brother ever and if she is anything like her big brother I'll be the luckiest mom alive.

Christmas

Due to the fact that I am sick, I have a sick baby, a sick husband, the house has not been picked up for days and my list of posts and tasks is growing by the minute (... and life is about to change in only 4 months!) our Christmas update will be just a bunch of low quality iPhone pictures of highlights from our trip to Grammy & Grampy's. They may have no significance to you but they bring memories that fill my heart and that's all this blog is really for anyway, am I right? I'm sure that I am the only one who reads this stuff :)

"ights!"

ights - Gunnar's new favorite word.

He loves the Christmas decor as much as his mama. Every night before bed he goes outside and walks around our house pointing at all of the pretty "ights" that light up our neighborhood. It's is almost unfathomable how many words he picks up each day. Mom and dad really need to watch what they say. Last night we took The Guns out to the Temple for our church. Every year the entire place gets decorated in lights by the members and there is a nativity and choirs singing. It is a very festive experience and the lights are numberless. We bundled up and wandered around the grounds, chatted with friends and I easily took too many pictures but that made the night that much more magical.

is it just me or are they twins?!

Polar Express

What a busy and jolly month we have had so far! I love how each December the amount of posts I do triples. Maybe it's safe to say that it's the most wonderful time of the year. Last weekend we had our annual Polar Express party at Mimi and Papa's house. It started with a marshmallow snowball fight and ended with a tired group of cousins trying to last through the night. There was lots of fun, food and hot chocolate in between.

patiently waiting for their "snowball"

getting ready for the fight...

GAME ON!

He might have taken a bite out of every mallow that was propelled his direction... I was quite proud.

Then all the littles gathered round for Papa to read them a story...

...and barely made it through the first few pages.

Oh what fun was had!
