such great heights

While we were up North our group went for a trek in the mountains. The little man had insisted on walking as much as possible, which I'm sure was at least a mile on his little legs. There were a few scrapes and falls but he pushed through determined as ever to hike the whole thing.

Gunnar was so very excited to spend the few days with his daddy. He loves him so very much. There is no competition when we are both home. Gunnar will not let me hold him or come within five feet of him if dad is home... It's a really nice feeling...

For the fourth of July, we did the only true American thing to do and ventured up to the Flagstaff with our friends for a small town celebration. It felt a little like Sweet Home Alabama meets the Sandlot and it was perfect. After breakfast we watched the parade (my first fourth of july parade... ever) and then we spent the rest of the day at the city fair dancing, crafting, eating, playing and chatting. 

Later in the evening, we journeyed down south and lit fireworks with Gunnar's cousins! One particularly got away and everyone ran for their lives while I took a picture.

home sweet home

Guess what! We bought a house! ... well I guess that happens all the time, but this one is for us to live in. yay! This will be the 5th house that we've lived in since getting married only 2 1/2 years ago. This time I was smart and got a contract that we will be in this one for 2 years at least... and then I was even smarter and let Tanman take charge of rennovations! This means that he'll probably make it super cool and awesome and he will never want to leave. Check. mate.

dad's the man

A few weeks late but a father's day post is much needed.

We had so much fun celebrating our patriarch. Tanner is far and above the best dad a gunnar could ask for. (He is a pretty spectacular husband too.) Gunnar just thinks that his dad is the bee's knees. Every morning Tan grabs an orange cup, fills it with water at the dispenser and then adds his green drink. A few seconds later, guns grabs an orange cup walks over to the dispenser and then back to the fridge to make his own. He just sits with his daddy content, enjoying his breakfast. It is such a wonder to see how much he learns and how much he does to be just like his daddy! ... and rightfully so because, though I might be biased, he is indeed an extraordinary one. To celebrate we had made a hallways of balloons, put lots of decorations out, decorated with lots of candy and ate mountain man for breakfast! He seemed to be content with this... or maybe he was just too full to say anything.

tanman took me on a date! Well, I guess that's nothing new but we had so much fun and grammy and grampy babysat so we didn't have to worry about being home too late! The part I loved most was that when we left we had no idea what we were going to do. As the night wound up, we found ourselves walking around a closed up Balboa Island with Balboa bars in hand talking about life and loving each other. Right when we almost made it to the car to end the evening, Tan stopped me and had me sit down on a bench. He looked me in the eyes, pointed to the store in front of us and said "I spy something red......."

... and that is how we spent the next half hour. Goodness I love that man!

something new and different

surprise, surprise... we went to California again! Here's a photo recap... To say that Gunnar adored spending time with his daddy would be highly understated. 

 Legoland sure was a fun place for the boys to roam they are such great friends! ... by boys, I meant Tanner and Dave. They had a blast beating all the other kids at the firefighter games!

...and they were great sports about it, as you can tell.
